A Partnership Since 2004

Since 2004, Stumptown has been working with the husband-and-wife team Marysabel Caballero and Moises Herrera from El Puente.

Marysabel Caballero is a vibrant and enterprising woman, the owner of Pantanal Farm in the La Piedrona community. She was born and raised on a coffee farm, spending her childhood participating in coffee production with her father.

A Family Legacy in Coffee

As a fourth-generation coffee farmer, Marysabel's connection to coffee is deeply intertwined with her family's history. Her family's coffee cultivation dates back to around 1907, when her great-grandfather began growing coffee in Honduras. Moises Herrera came to the coffee scene as an employee of a Guatemalan coffee exporter. During a visit to Honduras in 1992, he spotted a region in the city of Chinacla that possessed ideal altitude and conditions for producing high-quality coffee. The two married in 1996, and together they began planting and growing coffee on their first farm, La Maltide.

Processing Method

Stumptown's Honduras El Puente lot undergoes washed processing. The coffee ferments for 16-24 hours and is thoroughly washed using water from nearby natural sources, then dried on raised beds in the sun or in mechanical dryers.

Recognition and Achievement

El Puente won the Honduras COE competition in 2016 with an outstanding score of 91.7.
