Guji Coffee Region

Guji is part of Oromia, Ethiopia's largest coffee-producing region, named after the Oromo tribal community. The Guji zone borders the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNP), which includes the Gedeo zone (home to Yirgacheffe) and the Sidama zone. Ethiopia is the country with the richest coffee genetic diversity on Earth, with wild native varieties found in its forests. The coffee cherries from this batch were grown at an astonishing altitude of 1900-2380 meters. With abundant rainfall, fertile soil, and Ethiopia's complex ancient native varieties, all conditions are exceptionally favorable. The dense fruits, concentrated flavors, combined with well-controlled, slow and careful processing, made winning the championship truly well-deserved!

Sidamo Coffee Region

The Sidamo producing area is located in the famous specialty coffee bean producing region of southern Ethiopia, featuring high-altitude climate conditions. Influenced by the southeast monsoon from the Indian Ocean, it experiences distinct dry and wet seasons and a mineral-rich terroir environment, making it an almost perfect growing area tailor-made for Arabica coffee.

Ethiopia Sidamo Guji Flavor Profile

Ethiopia Sidamo Guji is hand-sorted to remove defective beans and processed using natural (sun-dried) methods. The dry aroma displays vibrant floral and fruity sweetness with subtle almond notes. During brewing, roasted nut aromas emerge with hints of lemon and licorice sweetness. Upon first sip, the bright acidity reveals distinct jasmine flower notes, followed by the sweet and tart characteristics of hibiscus. As it cools slightly, cedar and lemon aromas appear, finishing with cocoa-like bittersweet aftertaste. This coffee bean, with its delightful layers of complexity, is absolutely not to be missed!

2018 Africa Taste of Harvest Champion!

Taste of Harvest (TOH) is a green bean competition organized by the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) among African producing countries, similar to the Cup of Excellence in Central and South America. Currently, there are seven member countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, and the Republic of Congo. The competition is divided into regional and continental competitions, with preliminaries eliminating batches scoring below 80 points. TOH selects the highest quality green beans from each producing region, which are cupped and scored by domestic and international judges based on Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) standards. This batch achieved the highest score of 88.58 points to win the championship!
