Uganda Coffee Bean - Kinone Washing Station
The Kinone washing station is operated by the Bukonzo Organic Farmers Co-operative. Established in 2009, Bukonzo sources green beans from 36 micro-washing stations in the Rwenzori mountain region. The Rwenzori mountains are known for their fertile soil and production of amazing coffee, and this Kinone is no exception.
Kinone is located north of Lake George, in Kasese town at the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains. With high altitude, fertile soil, and abundant rainfall, it provides an excellent environment for producing specialty coffee. However, for the past 40 years, farmers have faced poverty, lack of infrastructure, and political instability. Despite such challenges, Uganda still possesses the potential to produce specialty coffee, and organizations like Bukonzo are leading the development of Uganda's specialty coffee industry.
This fully washed SL14/SL28 offers floral notes, bright fruit aromas, and mild balance, featuring raspberry, citrus jam, lemon acidity, and sugarcane-like sweetness.
