San Juancito is a small village in central Honduras, located 40 kilometers northeast of the capital, Tegucigalpa. The town is part of the Francisco Morazán jurisdiction, which also includes Nuevo Rosario, Guacamaya and Plan Grande, with a total population of approximately 1,400 people.

Although San Juancito was historically known for its mineral deposits, today it stands out for its location within the buffer zone of La Tigra National Park — a rainforest ecosystem and Honduras' first national park. The park serves as a vast watershed, providing drinking water for 500,000 residents of the capital.

Because Honduras lies in the tropics, San Juancito sees minimal temperature variation throughout the year. What people call winter there is really the rainy season, while summer is the dry season. In tropical regions, altitude affects temperature more than the timing of rainfall across the year. San Juancito's position at 1,239 meters above sea level keeps temperatures slightly cooler year-round. During summer (March-June), the high often reaches around 26°C, while the low averages about 18°C. In winter, the average high is 20°C, with lows around 14°C.

The modern economy of San Juancito depends largely on agriculture, most of it small-scale coffee production. Its climate and altitude are highly favorable for producing high-quality coffee. COMISAJUL, a cooperative of several hundred small coffee farmers in central Honduras, is located in San Juancito. Coffee is grown on mountains at altitudes of 1,450-1,550 meters, shaded by banana, avocado and papaya trees. During the harvest season, farmers hand-pick ripe fruit, which undergoes washed processing and sun-drying. The fermented water carrying coffee pulp and skin from the washing process is collected and used as fertilizer for the coffee trees. This batch has a very clean taste, high sweetness and very gentle acidity, with milk chocolate flavors up front.
