8 Unusual Uses for Coffee

1. Reduce Cellulite

Expensive cellulite removal creams almost always contain one main ingredient: caffeine. Legend has it that caffeine accelerates metabolism and reduces the accumulation of cellulite. To remove cellulite yourself, simply mix used warm coffee grounds with coconut oil, apply it to your skin in circular motions for a few minutes, then rinse clean. (I'm quite curious if it's really that simple to remove cellulite~~)

2. Remove Hand Odors

Garlic, seafood, and other foods that are delicious when cooked often leave unpleasant odors on your hands. Just as you might use lemon water to wash your hands after eating crab, rubbing used coffee grounds on your hands and then rinsing with hot water can eliminate these odors.

3. Hair Shine

Brew a pot of strong coffee, let it cool, then apply it to clean, blow-dried hair. Leave it on for at least 20 minutes before rinsing. Do this once a week, and you'll gradually see results (though the effects may not be long-lasting).

4. Repel Ants

This should be particularly useful in Singapore, as the "Lion City" has so many ants! Sprinkle dry coffee grounds in areas where ants appear, and they'll retreat. I wonder if this works better than drawing chalk circles.

5. Grow Flowers, Plants, and Mushrooms

Not all plants prefer acidic growing environments. But for those that do, such as blueberries, azaleas, and oyster mushrooms, pouring coffee grounds around the plant roots can help them grow faster and healthier.

6. Cooking Secret Ingredient

Adding a little bit of coffee can give your dishes a distinctive flavor, which is especially prominent in chili, ice cream, and chocolate cake. If you add a bit of coffee when making steak, it not only makes the meat more tender but also imparts a rich, smoky flavor.

7. Remove Furniture Scratches

If wooden furniture has scratches, wipe them with a cloth soaked in coffee, and the scratches will quickly become invisible.
