Cannot Understand and Deeply Shocked!
A friendly reminder before the article begins: Coffee enemas are unreliable, please do not try them!
Regarding coffee enemas, I first heard about them last year. At that time, a practitioner from the wellness industry mentioned that they were preparing to launch a charitable coffee enema program and hoped to find a long-term reliable supplier of organic Yunnan coffee to provide products for their organization.
For such an inquiry, my expression at that time was like this:
About this matter, I thought it was a joke at the time, until today's article push, which not only opened the author's eyes but also opened mine.
I didn't expect such a project to be serious!!! Although the coffee beans are legitimate coffee beans and the coffee powder is also legitimate coffee powder, after reading such product descriptions and search keywords, it's really hard not to feel uncomfortable... Its sales volume is also surprising.
So, out of curiosity, I looked into coffee enemas... It turns out that as early as 2011, a health variety forum in Taiwan, China, already mentioned that such therapy existed in Europe as early as two thousand years ago...
I don't remember much of the content that followed, but there were a few words that the guests kept emphasizing: "Daily enema... they seem to do it daily... it seems like they do it daily..."
According to the guests' introduction, coffee enemas can achieve the effect of cleansing the intestines and eliminating retained waste by utilizing the acidity of coffee to stimulate the intestinal walls, promote colon peristalsis, kill bad bacteria in the rectum, and eliminate retained waste for detoxification.
Are Coffee Enemas Really Reliable?
In modern medicine, the therapy of coffee enemas was introduced around the 1950s by Dr. Gerson from Germany. However, regarding whether coffee enemas have such effects, many doctors have pointed out that although this therapy has been available for more than 60 years, there has never been any research evidence showing its efficacy, and using normal saline can achieve the same effect as coffee.
Some doctors also stated that enemas are inherently a form of stimulation to the intestines, and over time, this can cause the intestines to become dependent on this stimulation, leading to loss of intestinal peristalsis and potentially causing more severe constipation. They also pointed out that even if enemas have the effect of relieving constipation, it is not recommended for people to perform them at home, especially coffee enemas.
Because the temperature is difficult to control, both too hot or too cold enema solutions can cause discomfort to the intestines. Enema solutions that are too hot can also cause rectal burns, and the equipment at home is often not thoroughly disinfected compared to hospitals, which can lead to infections.
Long-term use of coffee for enemas can disrupt the balance of intestinal flora, damage gastrointestinal mucosa, and easily lead to various side effects, including infections, sepsis, severe water and electrolyte imbalances, colitis, proctocolitis, salmonella infections, brain abscesses, heart failure, etc.
If coffee is injected too quickly/temperature too high/concentration too high, the heat and acidity can cause internal burns or rectal perforation.
Drinking Coffee Directly Can Achieve Intestinal Cleansing Effects!
Coffee drinkers may have all experienced the same thing: drinking a cup of coffee in the morning (regardless of the type of coffee) and soon having the urge to go to the bathroom. There are two reasons for this:
One is that the acidic substances in coffee affect the stomach, causing it to secrete gastric acid, thereby increasing gastric acid levels. As acidity increases, the stomach accelerates the movement of digested food into the intestines.
Another possibility may be related to gastrin. Gastrin, also known as gastrin-releasing peptide, is an important gastrointestinal hormone that can increase the activity of the gastrointestinal tract.
Coffee is more reliable when consumed directly. Please do not try these unscientific therapies!! Image source: Internet
