Starbucks Mooncakes Expensive? Boxed Mooncakes Priced Over 500 Yuan to Face Enhanced Regulation!
According to an announcement on October 10th from the website of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the NDRC, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, and the State Administration for Market Regulation have jointly issued a notice to curb "sky-high" mooncake pricing and implement special supervision on boxed mooncakes priced over 500 yuan.
Businesses must properly preserve transaction information for boxed mooncakes sold at unit prices exceeding 500 yuan for two years, to be available for inspection by relevant authorities as required by law. If necessary, cost investigations will be immediately conducted on these businesses.
Producers and sellers of boxed mooncakes must strictly comply with mandatory standards for food packaging, refrain from using precious materials such as precious metals and rosewood, and reduce the excessive use of packaging materials. The use of green, environmentally friendly packaging that can serve other purposes is encouraged.
Businesses operating on e-commerce platforms engaged in the sale of boxed mooncakes must comply with the above regulations and are prohibited from engaging in mixed sales or falsely marking product prices through methods such as splitting orders or artificially increasing product quantities.
With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, businesses are preparing to enter the pre-sale stage for mooncakes. Rational decisions and planning should be made regarding material selection, pricing, and sales staff performance evaluation. When purchasing mooncakes or pre-sale vouchers, consumers should also practice rational consumption.
