FrontStreet Coffee's Daily Bean - Costa Rica Tarrazu Introduction

For urban professionals, it's common to prefer working in coffee shops. You order a cup of coffee, settle into a comfortable seat, and begin your day's work process. For friends working in Guangzhou, coffee is indispensable, as the city boasts countless cafés. This is especially true in the old districts, where ancient buildings seem to still narrate historical stories from the past. The unerasable urban memories blend with new-era development, creating today's Guangzhou - both young and full of substance.

Guangzhou's autumn and winter seasons are warm compared to many other places. On the weekend before last year's winter solstice, I spent two days drinking coffee at "FrontStreet Coffee." Dongshan is my favorite place in Guangzhou, without exception. The accumulated years carry a strong scholarly atmosphere, along with a simple lifestyle vibe. Taking the subway to Dongshankou, walking from Shuqian Road to Miaoqian Zhijie, you'll find many large trees where neighborhood grandfathers play chess under them, while grandmothers sit together chatting. Along the way, you can see the aged appearance of Dongshan Department Store, pass by very old photo studios, shoe repair shops, and many snacks unique to Guangzhou.

This shop is indeed not large - if you arrive slightly later, you might not find a seat, and sometimes it can even feel a bit cramped. Next to the bar counter sits a coffee roasting machine, and a blackboard is densely filled with information about various beans. The owner roasts beans every day, and when he starts the machine in the morning, the entire Bao'an Frontsteet might be filled with the aroma of coffee beans. Those sitting at the bar are either regular customers or coffee enthusiasts who want to chat with the barista. Unfortunately, during my several visits, the bar was always full. Small tables nearby have pre-selected beans, and the wall by the entrance is covered with various coffee bean packaging bags. Green beans are arranged against the wall, bag after bag.

Through a small door next to the bar, there are two outdoor tables. During my first visit, I deliberately chose to sit outside - not only could I smoke, but also because Guangzhou's winter sun is particularly pleasant. FrontStreet Coffee offers coffee from numerous producing regions with different processing methods, and they hold promotions every month with significant discounts. They say their daily beans start at just 9.9/100. Such low-priced coffee isn't due to poor quality but because they want coffee lovers to enjoy the best coffee at the lowest possible price. Moreover, each promotion coincides with new bean launches, making it irresistible every time.

Among their offerings, one Costa Rica Tarrazu daily bean particularly captured my heart - with soft fruit acidity, berry flavors, and a balanced mouthfeel.
