Java's Coffee Heritage

The cultivation of Java Arabica coffee centers around the Ijen Volcano in eastern Java, with an average altitude exceeding 1400 meters above sea level. Coffee is primarily grown in large estates established by the Dutch government and landowners in the early 19th century.

Java's finest coffee plantations include Blawan, Jambit, Kayumas, and Pankur. Blawan Estate stands as one of these prestigious plantations (one of Indonesia's state-owned Java coffee estates), situated near the Ijen Volcano in eastern Java. The location provides ideal conditions for growing premium coffee, including high altitude, volcanic soil, appropriate rainfall, and favorable temperatures.

The "Java Typica" coffee produced by Blawan Estate features full, rounded beans with low acidity. Additionally, the estate exclusively employs hand-picking methods for harvesting coffee cherries. After harvest, the coffee cherries are transported to processing facilities for depulping and washed processing.
