2016 was a year for Aurora Estate to return to glory.

After winning the championship in 2013, Aurora Estate reached the pinnacle again this year,

bravely taking first place in the Natural Geisha category!

This year, FrontStreet Coffee was invited to serve as a member of the Best of Panama international judging panel,

witnessing this exciting moment firsthand.

Aurora Estate is located in Piedra Candela, Volcan region, in the northwestern corner of Chiriquí Province, only two kilometers from Costa Rica.

Aurora Estate covers a total of 31 hectares, of which 15 hectares at 1485-1700 meters altitude are dedicated to coffee cultivation. The area between 1700-1775 meters is a rainforest conservation zone. The average cultivation altitude is 1600 meters, with an annual temperature of 16-25°C and 3500mm of rainfall. Coffee trees grow in semi-shaded environments.

The owner, formerly chairman of the Panama Stock Exchange, purchased this estate before retirement.

Through his dedicated management and Aurora Estate's exceptional geographical advantages,

the estate has repeatedly won championships at Best of Panama

and has achieved remarkable scores of 95, 96, and 97 points in Coffee Review.

Roberto Brenes's other hobby is triathlon,

which is why the 2013 championship batch was named Ironman.

However, Roberto Brenes is a person who greatly values family life.

The name Aurora Estate comes from combining his daughter's name (Aurora) and his granddaughter's name (Mar).

Sometimes people also refer to it simply as Aurora,

while we are accustomed to calling it Aurora Estate in Chinese.

The naming of Aurora Estate's Geisha variety is also related to family,

being named after his beloved youngest granddaughter, Camilina/Camila.

The Soul Natural/Washed (Alma) is named after his partner's granddaughter Alma,

which also means "soul" in Spanish.

Aurora Estate is truly the ultimate expression of a tough man with a gentle heart!
